We offer trainings through CTI and also directly. Ascend has no preference on whether the agency chooses to contract directly with Ascend or through the CTI process.
INTRODUCTORY ASCEND TRAINING -TWO DAY
Our standard training, and the one most requested, is a 2 day intensive training which consists of trainee materials, 16 hours of presentation, packets that can be used directly with clients and license to use all of the techniques taught in the trainings.
We come to the agency and the agency provides the training location, projector and coffee/meals for participants. WE don’t require that meals be provided but that is typically what has been done.
The two day training consists of presentation of the following topics: (1) root causes of crime and criminogenic risk factors, (2) legal education that clients must know to avoid recidivating, (3) motivational interviewing, (4) helping employers understand how to avoid unintentional discrimination against clients with criminal records, (5) cognitive behavioral therapy, (6) deliverable “life success” packet to case manage clients with records and decision fatigue, (7) criminal thinking styles, (8) an “empowerment packet” deliverable that enables re-entry professionals to walk clients through steps they need to conquer when coming out of prison or jail, (9) activities related to all of these topics and (10) games and interactive ways to communicate all of this knowledge to the clients who are coming out of jail or prison and/or are on supervision.
INTRODUCTORY ASCEND TRAINING – ONE DAY
The one day training covers abbreviated content of the root causes of crime and criminogenic risk factors, legal education for clients, cognitive behavioral therapy, information for employers, the life success packet and an abbreviated amount of activities and games.
ADVANCED ASCEND TRAINING – ONE AND TWO DAY OFFERINGS
The information provided in Ascend trainings in voluminous and complex. Advanced training sessions are available for staff who have attended the initial introductory trainings. The advanced trainings go more in depth on the topics taught in the introductory trainings and includes additional deliverables and additional games and activities.

For those who purchase the Ascend curriculum, we offer one and two day trainings on curriculum implementation.
As you will see under the “Curriculum” tab on this website, the curriculum contains a teaching guide and is a full package written to allow immediate implementation without further training.
For those who would like us to give additional training, we offer one and two day sessions in which we walk you through each lesson of the curriculum and provide additional tips, games and activities to use with the clients.
CUSTOMIZED TRAININGS
